The most amazing apprentice experience ever!

You'll be involved in Apprentices are MAD from the moment you start your apprenticeship, participating in a series of community-based fundraising events which culminate in the final year of your programme with your jetting off on your own MAD Adventure, a fantastic initiative designed to build personal and teamworking skills through a series of practical character-forging tasks. The venue will be exotic, but the weeklong project is anything but a holiday – it’s a voyage of discovery and a test of resilience that many participants rate as the most amazing, rewarding and unforgettable experience of their young lives. You won't find anything like Apprentices are MAD anywhere else in the automotive industry!

Apprentices are MAD has already helped raise £ thousands worldwide

Most prospective apprentices' parents will have worked somewhere where there was a sign on the wall saying: 'You don't have to be mad to work here - but it helps.' Well at Land Rover you do have to be MAD to work here. For us, MAD means 'Making a Difference', and it's one of the central reasons why a Land Rover dealer advanced apprenticeship is unmatched when it comes to helping youngsters to discover and fulfil their potential.

Apprentices are MAD will involve you in all manner of fundraising activities to support projects that final year apprentices will be supporting during their MAD Adventure. Then in the final year of your advanced apprenticeship it will be your turn to live the wonders of a MAD Adventure somewhere in the wilds of the world, while younger recruits will support you and your peers in Making a Difference that really matters to the people whose community you'll visit.

Over the past five years the efforts of our apprentices have helped raise many tens of thousands of pounds for international community projects operating in some of the poorest parts of the world. Details of previous community projects are listed below to whet your appetites!

Apprentice Challenge 2005: Kenya

Based at the Taita Discovery Centre, three hours from Nairobi, the class of 2005 refurbished a classroom, climbed a peak, camped out in the wilds and learnt about crafts and hunting skills from their Masai hosts, including how to make paper from elephant dung.
Apprentice Challenge 2004: Zambia

The inaugural Challenge Africa trip in May 2004 saw 40 final year apprentices plus instructors visit Makuni village near Victoria Falls in Zambia to experience Africa in the raw and to contribute to a community very different from their own. The party learnt how to hunt with spears and how to service Land Rovers in the middle of nowhere using natural resources. They canoed down the Zambezi, camped and cooked in the bush and played (and lost) against local footballing champions that have no shoes, let alone football boots. And at the very heart of it all they painted a local classroom that would otherwise have remained unpainted for four more years while the village saved up for the paint.
